London Int'l Ska Fest Update: First Batch of Confirmed Headliners-The Loafers, Bim Skala Bim, Napoleon Solo, Intensified, Maroon Town, Amphetameanies!

While not all of the headliners have been secured, Sean Flowerdew has announced some of the line-up (there will be 30 bands in total) for the London International Ska Festival, which will be taking place at the Clapham Grand Theatre in London on Thursday April 21st through to Sunday April 24th, 2011.

Details below are from Sean's posting on The Specials' fan site bulletin board:
THE LOAFERS
(will be reforming with all original 6 members for an exclusive one-off performance)

BIM SKALA BIM
(American ska pioneers and one of USA's leading ska bands of the 80's and 90's, will be performing exclusively at the festival- their first UK show in over a decade)

NAPOLEON SOLO
(Danish soul/ska sensation, will be playing their first show in the UK in over 20 years)

In addition to this trip down memory line we have some of the true stalwarts of the UK ska scene confirmed:

INTENSIFIED
(arguably the UK's finest traditional ska band, will be celebrating their 21st anniversary)

MAROON TOWN
(with their unique blend of ska/funk/rap/latin)

And two of our favourite new bands on the current ska scene:

THE AMPHETAMEANIES
(Glasgows finest sons and daughters, who will be promoting a brand new album)

THE SIDEWALK DOCTORS
(London's new kings of rocksteady cool)

Oh wow. That's insane. I may have to convince my wife that a trip to London is in order.

I know, I'm trying to figure out how I might get over there, too...

Man I wish I could go. Loafers reunion, Maroon Town and Bim. Already this is the best lineup.

It's like it's freakin' 1988 or something! I can't wait to see who they add to the line-up!
